Oxygen pressure regulators sold for cylinder use in India are typically manufactured to IS 6901:2009 (equivalent to ISO 2503:1998), the standard covering pressure regulators for gas cylinders used in welding, cutting and allied processes, which requires oxygen-service regulators to be designed, machined and assembled — with all parts cleaned and degreased — so that internal ignition cannot occur. Regulators of this type commonly connect to the standard Indian oxygen cylinder valve outlet, Outlet No. 3 (a G5/8 right-hand thread per IS 3224-2002), and are usually rated for an operating range of -20°C to +60°C.
